There are many fantastic places in Hong Kong that you simply can't find by wandering the streets. They are often nestled in between the floors of high rise buildings, above all the commercial chain stores that can pay the rent for prime real estate in such a small, overpopulated city.
Here are a few of my favourites:
Sweetie Baking - No. 22 Yee Wo Street, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong 10th Floor
Situated in the heart of the city, Sweetie Baking has all the chocolate buttons, sprinkles and utensils every baker needs. Some of the products are available for wholesale prices but you'll have to chat up the shop assistant to negotiate prices. What I loved about this store was it's chocolate moulds, there is a wide selection and each will only set you back about $5 (USD). It's near the big Sogo building.
I love Cake - 88 Wanchai Road, Wan Chai
Also another gem if you're a baker, they have the cutest bakeware accessories. Looking to dish up some Hello Kitty shaped chocolates and crepes? This is the place to go. They also have a VIP card to reward loyal customers. This shop is super easy to find, as it's tiny in space, it's best to go during the week.
Here's what I came home with. Big thanks to Angelina Anderson (洪子崎) for the recommendations.

Sam's Tailors - Ground Floor K&L Burlington Arcade, 90-94C Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui (exit B)
This shop is literally a wall of fame, with pictures of past US presidents (Bush, Clinton), princes and princesses (Caroline Kennedy, Queen) and almost every celebrity you can name (Michael Jackson, Kate Moss, Serena Williams...the list goes on). It's a family business renowned for its craftsmanship. Sam, the face and name behind the brand works there everyday, speaking fluent Cantonese and English. A measure to fit shirt will set you back $50 (USD), same as what you'd pay in most shops like H&M and Zara. I'd highly recommend tailored denim trousers.
That's about it! More to share later when I'm not so jetlagged. =)
