I love it when friends drop by unannounced but at times, and especially on weeknights, our fridge is pretty bare. You might be lucky enough to find some cheese and tomato but nothing fancy to serve on surprise visits. Sheena and David introduced me to Vol Au Vents a few days ago. Apparently they are a thing of the 70s. I looked up some classic recipes but ended up with an easy no brainer smoked salmon and cream cheese combo, which took 5 minutes to prepare altogether.
